Not sure if anyone notice but my lil weight ticker gal has moved down towards the scale!! YIPPIE! in total its only 10 pounds I've lost but you gotta start some where. I spent the entire other day re arranging my computer room so I could set up my treadmill. Now I just gotta get dougie to figure out what stuff we still need, we have more computer cds than we know what to do with. I swear I still own windows 97 disc!! But thats HIS domain so I don't want to get rid of anything I'm not suppose to.

These are the before shots of Kali's room....I remembered to take them part way into clearing the room out...but at last I remembered!!

So I've been plugging along....and have tackled quite a bit on my to get done list!! I even have some pictures!!! YEAH!!!! So Kali's room which has some minor things still to be done (like door knobs on the closets and main door, she needs a bigger area rug and some kind of a blind and window treatment and I still have to attach her little jewels to her bed netting!!) but for now we're gonna say its done till I find what I want. So I already did a post on how Kali's closet turned out for those of you who didn't get to see it click HERE!
I reupholstered Kali's Queen Ann chair heres the before and after shots!! if you have never reupholstered anything ...I suggest start with something EASY!!!! I think the chair came out ok but I didn't know what I was doing!!! and the amount of staples I had to take out!!! Holy Crap!!! Lets just say I'm glad thats OFF my to do list!!

So pretty much there you have Kali's room!! kinda cute eh??? I'll post Parkers room next....off to the Doctors!!

As you all know we've been working on Kalis room... we sorta hit a stand still, it needs all the little finishing touches.... hoping Doug does some of them this days off. Her closet doors need to be put back up.... This is something I would normally do on my on but the hinge between them is hooped theres only wood on one side so he'll have to screw through the door and brace it some how..... hes better at that than I am... mine would be uneven, where he's a perfectionist!! He also has to sand down the window a bit so it'll close better. Then theres the NEED TO BUY CATEGORY!!! She needs a rug, a shade, door knob and closet door knobs. No luck here finding what I'd like. I would like those lil glass old fashion door knobs but try finding them here in BOONIE VILLE!! Might have to find something else. But for now that stuff can wait. I also wanna reupholster her chair. Should be tackling that in a few days... I hope,...my mom said she'd give me a hand with it. I had bought material to do it over two years ago and never got around to it.... but its now for my little sweet pea so gotta make the time!!

Heres some pictures of her book case that we re did....I bought it when a local material store was going out of business I got Doug to add a top to it and a middle shelf.... and I stained it to match her crib set. I always wanted to add some baskets to it and another shelf soooooo while Doug was at work last week and Kali was napping I hit the table saw and added the shelves for baskets and another shelf for bigger toys..... I think it turned out pretty good keeps everything neat and tidy!! Theres still room for her to grow with new stuff as well. The green walls is her old room with how the bookcase use to look and now theres a photo of her purple room with the bookcase revamped!!

I also wanted to put floating shelves in her old room but never got around to building them so when Doug and I were doing the trim and the mitre saw was right there nice and handy I got Doug to build me three of them and I painted 'em and hung em up....I just love how they turned out!! holds all her small knick-knacky kinda stuff. I'll post the before and afters of her room when Doug gets the closet doors up. I just love how its all coming together...... wish I would of had a little girly room like this when I was a kid. Auntie Jenny was over today and wished she could have one NOW!!! I thought it was cute..... somehow I don't think Uncle Scott would go for it!! Hope you enjoy the pics!!

I know that everyone hates doing all the LITTLE things left to do when you are renovating like the TRIM and stuff. I also don't like the finishing touches on certain things. But in my Daughters almost finished room we have taken the time to paint EVERYTHING out the window sills the trim the doors the closets inside, outside and even the edges!!! Though I think if it were up to Dug he would of just painted them hanging where they were!! LOL hes sooooo meticulous about somethings and not about others!! But I took the doors down and took the closet doors apart and gave them a fresh new coat of paint. Tip for you's who need to paint something but don't want to lug up saw horses I use toilet paper rolls!! I always have lots of them around they are all the same height so my boards sit flat and even and its just easy to use and put away after!! I would suggest if you have to do trim that you put a 2x4 across the TP first and then put your trim on top of the 2x4s running the opposite way!! all it does is give you the TP height plus the 2x4's height for painting. heres a couple of pics......it works for me!!

Anyway back to caulking.....we laid laminate flooring in Kalis room( my hunny Dug did an awesome job) when you cut and nail the floor trim some times you get gaps on the top from uneven walls, or the room isn't completely square so your corner 45's aren't a nice snug fit, there left with a gap, or if you look at the floor you can see where the trim and floor don't match up perfectly....this is because NO HOUSE IS COMPLETELY SQUARE!!!! and its annoying!! My solution CAULK IT!!!

If your trim is white use white caulking or if not use the clear or paintable caulking!! heres my list of why you should caulk the trim top and bottom for laminate floors, tile floors or linoleum....or just the top if you have carpet.

1. Main reason to hide all the imperfections in the trim, floors, corners and walls
2. If you caulk it you'll never loose little things in it cuz its sealed....no kiddies shoving pennies behind it of papers or whatever!!
3. If its caulked its easy to clean cuz nothing can get behind it only dust and stuff sits on it and its easy to wipe up. We have a dog so theres no worries of dirt and dog fluff build up in the corners...I don't have to get down on my knees and pull out long strands of nastiness
4. This reason has got to be my NUMBER ONE reason for YOU MUST CAULK!!.....little critters like SPIDERS do not have a place to run and hide cuz its sealed top and bottom......with a carpet the little buggers only have a 50/50 chance of survival!!
heres some of the before pictures ...if you don't caulk what it would look like and some after pictures of how nice it looks!!! and really caulking takes No time at all...when its done its done!!! PS the trick to caulking cut the right size hole in the tube for the job you are doing and wet your finger and run it over the bead you pump out for a smooth finish have a damp rag handy to wipe the excess off on it!! Anyone can do it yes that includes you!!!
